Persona 5 plays host to a wealth of complex and well-developed characters which you may or may not come across in your time with the game. While some fight along side you in your party, others are external to that, making up the rest of your Tarot-based social links.
Below are a list of the known characters you will come to interact with, both on your team and outside of it, as well as the main character himself.
The Protagonist[edit]
Persona 5's protagonist is a phantom thief and second-year high school student in Tokyo. His initial persona is Arsene, the gentleman thief.
Some of Persona 5’s best characters are its most pathetic ones. Take, for example, Yuuki Mishima, the fanboy who runs your website and eagerly clamors to be a part of the gang’s fame. It strikes an interesting discordant tone—he’s so hungry for fame that you have to go into Mementos at one point to snap him out of it. The Phantom Thieves of Hearts Founding Members note The Protagonist/Joker, Ryuji Sakamoto/Skull, Morgana/Mona, Ann Takamaki/Panther.
Phantom Thieves[edit]
The following characters make up your team and social links and can be found throughout the game, either through the main story or through seeking the out on your own.
Ryuji Sakamoto[edit]
Ryuji is the one to say, “let’s change this world!” and pulls the protagonist along with him. It’s because of Ryuji that the protagonist begins his life as a phantom thief. He may be defiant, but he’s a nice guy. His Persona is Captain Kidd, a chivalrous pirate.
Anne Takamaki[edit]
Anne is a quarter-American girl who's returned to Japan, and while she may be popular, she doesn’t have any true friends. She is a character that looks like she may stand out among her peers, but she’s actually isolated and lonely. Once she joins the party, she’ll take on the role of the life of the party. Her Persona, Carmen, a heroine seductress, has a femme-fatale side to her, and due to a certain incident, joins the protagonist and Ryuji to take on the 'other world.'
Morgana[edit]
Morgana is similar to Persona 4’s Teddie and will help you in the navigation of the other world. He’s been working in the phantom thief business for some time and will train the protagonist and friends to be proper phantom thieves. Morgana takes the appearance of a regular cat in the real world. His Persona — Zorro, the defender of the people — is actually Morgana’s admired form. Since he’s little and is often called out with “hey, cat,” his Persona shows an ideal macho form.
Yusuke Kitagawa[edit]
An eccentric character, but with a different charm from him than you’d get from his illustration appearance. He’s a talented artist, and is an honour student in art.
